History of the Rich Veth Diamond Club

The Rich Veth Diamond Club was formed in 2010 by parents who wanted to enhance the North Baseball program through fundraising and a hands-on approach to rebuilding the baseball field.

The club was named for Rich Veth to honor the legendary baseball coach for Middletown North who took great pride in sharing his baseball knowledge with his players and fellow coaches. Rich gave countless hours showing and teaching the right way to play the game with respect and dignity.

During Rich Veth’s, 22 year tenure, the Lions garnered 13 championships including state titles in 1983 and 1989. He turned out numerous All State, All Shore and All County players, many of whom continued their careers at the college and professional level.

In 2012, Rich Veth’s #18 Jersey was retired in a ceremony that included many former players, coaches and family members. His #18 is proudly displayed for all to see.
